Our history began when late Uzochukwu Dennis Egemonye, LL.B (London), BSc, Economics (Birmingham) founded our law firm in 1962. At the time, we operated as Uzochukwu Egemonye & Co and by sheer hard work, we have transformed into a top-tier and leading Pan-African Business Law Firm headquartered in Lagos.

Till today, we have continued to provide first class, effective and result driven services to clients across different sectors of the Nigerian economy and in different jurisdictions across Sub-Saharan Africa. We treat our clients courteously and at the outset of every retainer, we identify an agreed scope of work, provide timelines for deliverables and fully disclose our fees with no hidden charges. We will never exceed an agreed fee without first agreeing an amended scope.

All our clients’ projects are partner-led. The partner will have overall supervisory responsibility and will be assisted by relevant fee earners from relevant sectors and practice areas. We operate a very robust complaint procedure and we from time-to-time either at the end of or through a project life cycle, we request feedback from clients by way of survey and/or questionnaires. We have a responsibility to engage with and support the communities around us. At Goldsmiths, we encourage all our lawyers to use their particular knowledge and skills to assist those who may not otherwise be able to afford legal services. We are particularly passionate about widows and their inheritance rights, domestic violence victims and motherless babies and we support local NGOs in the provision of legal services to these vulnerable groups. We also provide legal advice on a pro-bono basis to start-ups, especially in the tech sector.

One of our partners is also a member of the International Senior Lawyers Project a UK based legal charity and working with lawyers from across the globe, provided yearly two-week pro bono capacity building and training on civil litigation to undergraduate law students at the Tanzanian Law School, Dar El Salam, Tanzania.
